Anti-war Poster, 1971

$15.00

Dimensions: 22 × 17 inches

The poster was made by Donald Judd and Julie Finch Judd in 1971 for the Westbeth Peace Festival to benefit the New York Peace Action Coalition and the Student Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam. Signed copies were sold to benefit the cause, and unsigned copies were given away. The text is Judd’s and Finch Judd’s selection of thirty-two historical and contemporary statements, extracted largely from quotations found in The Public Life, a journal edited by Harvey Shapiro and Walter Karp. Targeted at the U.S. Government, the statements form a complex narrative of continued hypocrisy and abuse of power.
