Join Judd Foundation for our annual Ranch Day at Casa Perez—an afternoon of food, music, and programs. The event will be held this fall at Casa Perez, one of Donald Judd’s three ranch houses outside of Marfa, Texas. This event is free and open to the public.

1:00pm “Flora of the Chihuahuan Desert” conversation between botanists Dr. A. Michael Powell and Patty Manning.

Dr. Powell, co-founder of Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute (CDRI), is the Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biology and the Director and Curator of the Herbarium at Sul Ross State University. Manning worked under Dr. Powell in the Biology Department at Sul Ross State University for eighteen years, propagating native plants and contributing specimens to the Herbarium. With her spouse, she works to provide seed-grown plants from the Trans-Pecos region with Twin Sisters Natives in Alpine, Texas. The conversation will include history of their work, the fiftieth anniversary of CDRI, the importance of the Herbarium at Sul Ross, and their work to collect and cultivate plant specimens from the region as well as specifically the Chinati Mountains and Sierra Tierra Vieja.
