The purpose of the Donald Judd Catalogue Raisonné Project is to research and document works by the artist made between the mid-1950s through 1994. This long-term project updates information published in Donald Judd: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings, Objects, and Wood-Blocks 1960-1974, the volume that accompanied Judd’s 1975 retrospective at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. The current project presents new research for works made prior to 1960, as well as works made after 1975.
Donald Judd Catalogue Raisonné researchers collaborate closely with collectors, galleries, and institutions to compile archival documentation of the artist’s works. Researchers have cataloged paintings, objects, and wood-blocks by Judd and have assembled records related to these works’ fabrication, material specifications, auction, exhibition, publication, and provenance histories.
When published, the Donald Judd Catalogue Raisonné will be the definitive source for Judd scholarship. The publication expands Judd Foundation’s mission to preserve and develop new audiences for Judd’s ideas about art.
A comprehensive catalogue of Judd prints, Donald Judd, Prints and Works in Editions: A Catalogue Raisonné, edited by Jörg Schellmann and Mariette Josephus Jitta, was published in 1993.
Judd Foundation has initiated a public call for works focused on the documentation of paintings, objects, and wood-blocks. The Foundation seeks to build on archival research by engaging collectors, galleries, and institutions around the world in the expansion of knowledge about Judd’s body of work, which will inform a publication phase to follow.
Judd Foundation invites owners of Donald Judd artworks to complete and submit the Donald Judd Catalogue Raisonné form. We thank you in advance for taking the time to fill out the form and submit information. Your participation constitutes a valued contribution to ongoing Donald Judd scholarship. Submitted materials will become part of Judd Foundation Archives upon completion of the project. Owner information will be restricted by those who request confidentiality.
Judd Foundation does not authenticate or provide valuations of works of art by Donald Judd.
