A conversation on Donald Judd to celebrate the publication of Donald Judd 1957–1963: Paintings and Objects.
Join Judd Foundation and Gagosian for a conversation on Donald Judd to celebrate the publication of Donald Judd 1957–1963: Paintings and Objects (April 2025), the most comprehensive exploration to date of the artist’s paintings and early works.
Published by Gagosian and featuring essays by Eileen Costello, Sarah K. Rich, and Lynn Zelevansky, the book provides unparalleled insight into the pivotal seven-year period in which the revered artist transitioned from two-dimensional to three-dimensional work. Surrounded by a special installation of Judd paintings, Rich will speak with artists Adam McEwen and Stanley Whitney about Judd’s enduring legacy and influence across mediums.
Registration for this event is at capacity. Please note priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, though advance registration does not guarantee admission once the event reaches capacity.
Eight paintings by Judd, dating from 1957 to 1960, will be on view on the ground floor of 101 Spring Street from April 1–19, 2025. This selection of works trace the artist’s transition from geometric abstraction, through Cubism-based experiments, to the final development of paintings that achieve a unified surface area with no reference to pictorial space.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
